Sebastien Ammann

Sebastien Ammann

Since arriving on the New York jazz scene in 2008 after growing up in Geneva, Switzerland, Sebastien Ammann has made a name for himself as a versatile pianist and composer with a strong musical voice. He currently leads the Sebastien Ammann Quartet featuring saxophonist Ohad Talmor, bassist Dave Ambrosio and drummer Eric McPherson. The first record of this group was released in 2013 on the famed Freshsound New Talent label. The band then toured Europe (Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, France) in March 2014. Sebastien Ammann’s second band, the Sebastien Ammann Group, features saxophonist Michaël Attias, bassist Noah Garabedian and drummer Nathan Ellman-Bell.

Their first album was recorded in 2015 and will be released in 2016. Sebastien Ammann is also co-leading the Soraya Berent/Sebastien Ammann Duo, whose repertoire centers around the writings of Beat Generation poets. Sebastien Ammann’s great technical command of the instrument and special lyrical gift has enabled him to become an in-demand sideman, working with the likes of Kris Davis’ Massive Thread, Russ Flynn’s Large Ensemble, Le Zhang Quintet, Jared Dubin Group, Gene Ess, Marc Ferber and George Schuller. Sebastien Ammann has appeared in clubs and festivals in the USA, Canada and Europe as a leader and a sideman.
