Summerkeys:

Winterkeys:

This program will be held at the Turtle Bay Music School., New York City on the following dates:
    - November 23, 2005 – November 27, 2005
    - December 26, 2005 – December 30 2005
    - March27, 2006 – March 31 2006
This includes a 45 minute private lesson, two hours scheduled practice each day and a one hour group class “Piano Problems, Resources, and Materials” begins the 1st, 3rd, and 5th days.

Midwinter Workshop:

A three day workshop to be held in Williamsburg, VA on January 14-16, 2006. This includes a 45 minute lesson and two hours practice daily plus two concert/theory evening socials.

 
Biography:

• Founder and director of Summerkeys –A Music Vacation for Adults

• Piano faculty member at Turtle Bay Music School since 1982

• Piano faculty member at Henry Street Settlement Music School since 1970

• Conducts Winterkeys music workshops

• Established The Mary Potterton Memorial Piano Concerts in Lubec, Maine

• Studied with Murray Present in New Jersey and with Sasha Gorodnitzski of Juilliard School.

• Performs professionally as a soloist and chamber musician.

Private Lessons
Mr. Potterton teaches piano to adults, teens and children in New York City in the wintertime. During the summer he teaches primarily adults at Summerkeys in Lubec, Maine. Through his years of experience working with these students his love of teaching has only deepened. He recognizes that every student is an individual with a unique learning style and adapts his teaching technique so that each person can be and feel successful at learning the piano. His special interest is working with adults who have had negative experiences in piano instruction and as a result feel blocked or stalled. He enjoys teaching complete beginners as much as experienced pianists and enjoys working with jazz and popular music as well as classical repertoire.
