Each day begins with an hour-long group class for all participants at 9 AM; The formation of ensembles is encouraged not just among the cellists but also with the overlapping instrumental and piano programs. For those selecting the ensemble option, faculty set up coaching sessions for these according to student schedules. Late afternoons are given over to group rehearsals.

Peter Lewy:
Mr. Lewy has served as principle cellist and concerto
soloist with several New York City metropolitan orchestras including the
Brooklyn Chamber Orchestra, the Regina Opera Orchestra, the Bronx Symphony
and the Greenwich Village Orchestra. He has also made numerous recital
and chamber music appearances. In addition, Mr. Lewy has worked on
stage and in the recording studio with hundreds of recording artists.
His innovative uses of the cello in popular music recordings and
performances have earned him critical acclaim in the New York Times and
Variety Magazine. Mr. Lewy's solo debut CD, Now and Then (Classical
Jazz Records) features seven of his own works for solo cello as well as the
full Bach Suite #1 in G Major for unaccompanied cello. His music has
been heard on radio stations throughout the U.S., Europe and the far east.
A caring and enthusiastic teacher, Mr. Lewy teaches cello at the United
Nations International School and the Green Meadow Waldorf School and
maintains an independent studio for students of all ages and levels.
He was head of the string department at Camp Encore/Coda in Sweden, Maine
for nine years, and has been coordinator of the Cello Workshop at SummerKeys

An international cello artist, Johanne Perron presently pursues a career as chamber musician, solo performer and educator. She has played with orchestras including the Montreal, Mexico and Lisbon Symphonies among others and has presented recitals in Canada, Brazil, Mexico, and United States as well as in Europe. She has played as soloist under the direction of Charles Dutoit, Franz-Paul Decker, Arthur Weisberg, Otto Werner Muller and the assistant conductor of the Israel Philharmonic Zeev Doorman. She has collaborated as chamber musician on the American stage with members of the Philadelphia piano quartet and Classic Chamber concerts of Naples Florida and also appeared at the Luzerne NY chamber music festival. She has been a first-prize winner of several contests and founder/member of the Cellissimo Duo and Trio Garami. She has been featured numerous times on radio and television broadcasts in Canada and on WQXR in New York. Born in Chicoutimi, she was awarded the first-prize in cello and chamber music at the Conservatoire de Québec with Pierre Morin. As a Canada Council grant recipient, she obtained a Master’s degree at Yale with Aldo Parisot and thereafter studied with Leonard Rose at the Julliard School of Music in New York. She has attended several master classes with distinguished artists including Janos Starker in Banff, Pierre Fournier in Geneva and Paul Tortelier in Los Angeles. She has won several awards including the Prix d’Europe as well as first prize in strings at the Tremplin International des Concours de Musique du Canada. Critics of the Musical America magazine have described her as “an artist of extraordinary musical dimension, compelling intensity and deep inner serenity.” The day following a recital which she had given as part of the series Sons et brioches, Gilles Potvin wrote 'her sonority is unswervingly beautiful and of great fluidity. What is most striking about her are the musical gifts which enable her to phrase with sensitivity and elegance...' Johanne Perron has served on the faculty of the University of North Carolina, Greensboro and at the Lynn University Music Conservatory at Boca Raton, Florida formerly known as the HARID Conservatory. She has taught and given master classes at festivals in Brazil, Canada, and the United States. In 2005, after a twenty year absence from Canada, Johanne Perron returned to serve on the artist faculty at the University of Montreal strings department, a renowned international school of music which attracts young and talented musicians from around the world. For her, the purpose of teaching is not only to transfer knowledge but also to create a dialogue with younger people. Attesting to this are her three daughters who have in turn adopted a passion for musicianship. Johanne adds, “This human dimension demands a lot of personal investment of time and energy but results in a great satisfaction within my teaching career.” She plays a 1901 Gustav Bernardel cello made in Paris. Kathleen Collisson has just completed her 30th season as a cellist with the Milwaukee Symphony. She's also performed with Chicago Lyric Opera, the Grant Park Symphony, Milwaukee Chamber Orchestra, and many other groups. She's been an enthusiastic teacher since the age of sixteen, and especially enjoys coaching adult students through the roadblocks unique to being an older musician. She has studied and performed on Baroque cello, and has also taught classes and workshops exploring links between music and creative writing. Instruction Dates:
Joachim Woitun is a native of Friesing, Germany and studied cello at The Rochard Strauss Conservatory and The State University of Music in Munich. In 1987 he moved to the US to continue his studies, earning music degrees from Eastern Washington University and Queens College, C. U. N. Y. Sine moving to New York in 1990, he has given numerous sonata and chamber music performances in the tri-state area and beyond. Mr. Woitun co-directs the String Department at the Packer Collegiate Institite, and he teaches at the Third Street Music School Settlement in Manhattan. Instruction Dates:
Cellist David Bakamjian performs regularly as a recitalist, chamber player, recording artist and as a member of several New York area ensembles. He has performed at New York's premiere concert halls, appeared several times on National Public Radio and WQXR (NY), and was a winner or finalist in four international chamber music competitions. While a member of the Casa Verde Trio, Dr. Bakamjian completed six critically acclaimed national tours as well as a month-long tour of China. He has appeared as soloist with the Allentown Symphony, Philharmonia Virtuosi, the Beijing Symphony, the Bachanalia Festival Orchestra, and the Lehigh University Symphony Orchestra. He performs with the American Symphony Orchestra and is principal cellist of the New York Grand Opera and the High Mountain Symphony in New Jersey. In addition, he was principal cellist for the Miss Saigon theater orchestra and has served as principal cellist for the Berkshire Opera, Queens Symphony, Colonial Symphony, Bachanalia and many others. Dr. Bakamjian is a founding member of Brooklyn Baroque (flute, cello and harpsichord) whose first CD “Northern Lights” was released to critical acclaim in April, 2005. He also performs on baroque cello with Concert Royal, the American Classical Orchestra, Gotham Chamber Opera and the Long Island Baroque Ensemble. He is on the faculty at Lehigh University and is in great demand as a chamber music coach, serving as faculty at Summerkeys and as faculty and director at both Princeton Play Week and the Summer String-In in New Jersey. After earning his Bachelor of Arts degree from Yale University where he studied with Aldo Parisot, he went on to attain his Master of Music and Doctoral of Musical Arts degrees at the State University of New York at Stony Brook where he studied cello with Timothy Eddy and chamber music with Bernard Greenhouse. Matthew Goeke, cellist, peforms as soloist, chamber musician and orchestra player in a broad range of musical styles. He is a member of the Stamford Symphony, Musica Sacra, Eos Orchestra, the Cross Town Ensemble, SEM Ensemble, North/South Consonance, and the Kitchen House Blend. Solo performances include the Dvorak and Brahms "Double" concertos with the Centre Symphony, and the Shostakovitch Concerto No. 1 with the New York Repertory Orchestra. He also performs and records with the bands Church of Betty (Tripping with Wanda, Fruit on the Vine), GIANTfingers (GIANTfingers) and Voltaire (The Devil's Bris, Almost Human, Boo-Hoo). Classical recordings include North/South Recordings (Howard Rovics: Retrospective, and Elan) and 4Tay, Inc.
